Coaching and Staff Opportunities

Head/Assistant Coach

Whidbey Volleyball Club is looking for experienced volleyball coaches in Island County. Based in Oak Harbor, Washington on Whidbey Island, our program focuses on bringing volleyball to the island at all levels and offers an opportunity for girls and boys to learn the sport of volleyball in a positive and competitive environment. We are looking for experienced coaches who

  1. love the game, competing, and are passionate about player and coach development

  2. can manage and plan team practices, communication with players and parents, and provide positive feedback to individual players and the team as a whole

  3. can work collaboratively with the club's coaches to continuously develop each other and all our players to create and foster a deeper knowledge of and love for the game (are open and willing to learn other coaching techniques and drills)

  4. can be stewards of the sport and our program in our small community

Positions available at U14, U16, or U18 levels, boys or girls.

If you are new to the game, or coaching, but would like to learn more about becoming a coach or more involved in the club, we are willing to train and help you become the best coach that you can be. Whether you are a parent, a former player, or just a volleyball enthusiast, we would love to sit down and explore this with you through mentorship and pairing you with a more experienced coach so that you are able to learn firsthand what coaching a team entails. We can also suggest coaching clinics for you to attend as well.

Coach training can begin immediately. 2023-24 Season tryouts for U15+ begin in July, camps in August, possible clinics during the Fall. U14 and under tryouts begin in October/November and practices will commence in December. We will offer a competitive schedule and most tournaments will be held in the Greater Puget Sound Region from Pierce County to Whatcom County with a longer travel tournament to Spokane, Washington where accommodations will be provided by the club.

Coaches and staff play a HUGE part in developing our youth and are invaluable to our club. Coaches will be offered a coaching stipend (salary) to reimburse for time and travel expenses for tournaments. If your child is a player in our club, your stipend can be applied toward your club fees upon your request.

Coaching resume for experienced coaches required. Any coaches, new or experienced, must complete the following: USAV regulations require a background check and SafeSport Training, along with IMPACT Certification. All these requirements can be done online.
